| Customer Reviews: Do not buy *UPDATE: Card is OK July 1, 2010 C. Eckel 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just received this item today, when trying to copy files onto the card for my cell phone, I was getting write speeds of less than 500KB/sec, infact, I was lucky if it reached 350KB/sec. The read speeds are fine, but the 8gb Class 2 card that came with my phone from Sony had much higher write speeds than this. I tried copying files to the card while it was in my phone via USB 2.0, and I also tried the card-reader that this item came with, both had the same result - I tried my old MicroSD Class 2 in the card reader and was getting 1.5-2mb/sec speeds, so the problem is definitley with the card itself. Also, while the card is in my phone, my phone suddenly runs much slower than it did with the Class 2 card, as it's constantly accessing and reading/writing to the memory card.
Do not waste your money, get a reputable brand. I suppose this is what I get for trying to save some money.
UPDATE: After attempting to continue to write large files to it, the card seems to have "calibrated" itself and is now writing at speeds of 6-7MB/sec. I don't know what changed, but the card is working as it should now. 4 stars, not 5 because I it took about an hour to start functioning as it should (calibration should be done by the manufactor, not the consumer). Again, all is fine now, the card is reading/writing as it should.
